retail - for life is simply too short to drink badly

As with a good book, part of the pleasure of drinking wine is the buying experience; the ability to browse a lovingly curated selection with friendly expert help on hand, safe in the knowledge that anything you buy is going to bring pleasure and enlighten you. Although Tokyo has a handful of good places to buy wine - see out shortlist below - the wine retail scene is dominated by overheated, dusty mom and pop stores where bottles languish Natascha Kampusch like, undiscovered for decades, at which point they are so oxidised that they are totally undrinkable. Little wonder wine consumption in Japan is so low.

Although we have yet to open a physical retail presence we have created what we think is one of the best lists in Tokyo for your browsing pleasure. Our staff are but a click or telephone away for any advice that you might need. All our wine sits in perfect temperature controlled conditions until the moment you order it whereupon it is dispatched straight to you in temperature-controlled vans ready for you to enjoy. No more stillborn wine.

Mail richard@thedevilinthegrape.com for a customised selection.

Meanwhile here is our shortlist of the best wine shops in Tokyo where browsing is very much encouraged; friendly; knowledgeable staff on hand to take care of you; and you can rest assured that each bottle has been well looked after.
